My youngest went through a phase where she simply didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. Not because she was tired – but because she was scared. Scared of getting something wrong. Scared of not being good enough. I knew that feeling from my own childhood all too well.

What would I have wished for back then? Someone who said every morning: You are brave. You are enough. You've got this.

That's exactly why I created these affirmation cards for kids. From personal experience, with three children at home, and with the heart of a mum who knows: the words a child hears every day shape how they see themselves.

What are affirmation cards – and why do they work?

Affirmation cards are small cards with positive, empowering sentences. Sentences like "I am brave", "I am allowed to make mistakes" or "I am loved just as I am". Children don't internalize them after reading them once – but through repetition. Through the daily ritual of drawing a card, reading it together, taking a small moment to pause, a foundation of positive beliefs gradually takes shape. Why three categories – and why these ones specifically?

Children feel most insecure in three areas: when they compare themselves to others, when there's friction in the family, and when school challenges or overwhelms them. That's exactly why the cards are divided that way.

The Self-Love cards help build a positive self-image – independent of performance or appearance. The Family cards strengthen a sense of belonging and the knowledge of being loved and safe. The School cards give courage for everyday classroom life: for the hand that's afraid to go up. For the child who's scared of being the only one who doesn't understand something.

How and where can you print the cards?

Simply and flexibly – however works best for you:

• At a drugstore – load the JPG files onto a USB stick or phone and have them printed on high-quality photo paper (e.g. at dm or Rossmann)
• At any copy shop of your choice

A tip from personal experience: laminating the cards means you'll have them for years – and can easily pass them on to a sibling. Absolutely worth it.
